Use the verified salvage route
The current item reference identifies Earth Essence as the material obtained by salvaging powerful equipment. The confirmed route here is Legendary or Divine equipment salvage at a Blacksmith; no specific plant or ore gathering location is established by this page.
In Aldenreach, the Blacksmith unlock requires level 10, 800 gold and five Iron Ore. Keep gear needed by the active or an alternate build locked while deciding what is genuinely spare. Salvaging destroys the equipment, so compare its useful effects and trading eligibility first.
Estimate the material before destroying gear
The i reference lists these salvage amounts, using item level, not character or required level:
| Equipment | Listed Earth Essence amount |
|---|---|
| Legendary | 5 + 0.025 × item level |
| Divine | 10 + 0.15 × item level |
For example, an item-level-400 Legendary gives a listed value of 15. For fractional results, check the amount shown in the game; rounding has not been confirmed.
Salvage spare equipment from maps you can clear reliably. The fastest farming map, drop probabilities and materials per hour have not been measured here.
Reserve enough for sockets and upgrades
Each added gem socket needs 100 Earth Essence + item level × 400 gold. At item level 300, that is 100 essence and 120,000 gold per socket. Three such weapon sockets would need 300 essence and 360,000 gold. The equipment must require level 30 or above, and the slot must still have room for a socket.
Earth Essence is also used in Legendary and Divine equipment upgrades. Before spending all of it on sockets, compare the planned equipment-upgrade cost and whether the item will be replaced soon. Adding sockets or upgrading permanently removes that item’s trading eligibility.
Avoid the wrong disposal decision
Selling equipment gives gold; salvaging it gives materials. Choose the service matching the resource you need. The material’s listed sale value does not show that selling it and buying it back is an available supply route.
After salvaging, check the material count in its own panel. After adding a socket, check the item’s socket count and remaining resources. Confirm that the expected resources changed before continuing.
