Choose a playstyle before choosing a ranking
All four classes start with the same base health and mana in the release data. The practical differences are their skills, main damage attribute and the conditions their talents need. There is no same-gear, same-patch test here that establishes a universal strongest class.
| Class | Main attribute | Build options | What to watch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Warrior | Strength | Close-range physical attacks, shield support, or a later separate thorns route | Match physical and fire attacks to the right bonuses; thorns needs its own investment |
| Sorcerer | Intelligence | Fire early; frost control or lightning after their unlocks | Strong spells can consume mana faster than basic attacks replenish it |
| Hunter | Dexterity | Ranged physical attacks, channels or poison/traps | Distance bonuses and stationary channels lose value when enemies close in |
| Monk | Dexterity | Physical basic attacks and dodge-supported recovery | Furious Fist stacks expire; dodge is conditional and does not avoid damage over time |
For your first character
Choose Warrior if you want a close-range physical loop with Rage Shield from level 15. Choose Sorcerer if you prefer ranged elemental attacks and are willing to manage mana; Fire Ball works before the later frost and lightning skills unlock.
Choose Hunter for a ranged physical or poison build. Its first physical strong attack opens at level 5, while Knife Barrage and Rapid Fire arrive at 30 and 35. Choose Monk if you want physical basic attacks with dodge and recovery interactions; Furious Fist becomes available at level 15 and its full Hundred Hands set is much later.
Choose a class whose skills suit you, and check when those skills unlock. These suggestions are based on mechanics, not measured leveling speeds; a tier ranking is only useful when its equipment and progression conditions match yours.
Choosing a class for farming or bosses
For packs, prefer skills that reach several targets without exhausting mana. For bosses, check sustained damage, incoming damage type and recovery. Mana On Kill, kill-triggered damage and bonuses requiring several nearby enemies may lose their trigger against one surviving boss.
Every class still needs useful equipment and a sustainable healing loop. A full late-game rune set is not a prerequisite for choosing the character, but its effects must not be assumed before the pieces and slots exist.
Check the current patch before copying advice
Patch 1.0.0h increased several Hunter skills and changed Monk talents. Patch 1.0.0i raised several Monk attacks and changed Violet Skybow’s condition, so older class reports may no longer reflect the current skills. The individual class guides include starting talent allocations that meet the point requirements. If your setup stalls, change one part at a time and compare the results.
