Sorcerer build: choose an element and keep mana sustainable

Reference data: 1.0.0i. Talent examples are planner-checked, not gameplay-tested.

Use fire early, choose Ice Shards and Ice Meteor from level 20, or build around Electrocute and Lightning Storm from level 35. Match talents to the chosen element and keep enough mana to cast.

Choose an element and skill pair

The early pairing is Fire Ball with Flame Breath, which opens at level 5. Fire Ball is a basic attack that supplies mana; Flame Breath spends it. Ice Nova opens at 10 and Fire Elemental at 15 as special choices.

For frost, use Ice Shards from level 15 and Ice Meteor from 20. Meteor creates a chilled area rather than a cheap single hit. Ice Block opens at 25: it prevents damage during its active interval but also prevents action. Swap it with a damage special according to survival, not because every fight demands the same pair.

The following allocation uses 31 points and requires level 32. Its point costs and prerequisites were checked in the current data planner; it has not been tested in an in-game clear.

Order Add points Total spent
1 Arcane Insight 5; Mana Conduit 5 10
2 Arcane Momentum 1; Frost Mastery 4 15
3 Frost Alacrity 5 20
4 Enhance Ice Meteor: Mana Cost 5; Mana Regeneration 5 30
5 Flash Freeze 1 31

Mana Conduit adds mana to basic attacks. It does not make every Ice Meteor tick generate mana. Arcane Momentum supports the basic attack after a special cast. Frost Alacrity reduces Frost skill cooldowns, while Enhance Ice Meteor: Mana Cost reduces Ice Meteor’s mana cost. Flash Freeze depends on applying Chilled.

Lightning becomes available later

Electrocute opens at 30 and Lightning Storm at 35. Lightning Cloud opens at 45. Match them with Storm Executioner, Storm Mastery and the relevant mana-generation support instead of carrying over all frost-specific points.

Static Charge is the 30-point capstone for a lightning route; Storm Conduit is the 60-point capstone and gives Electrocute a chance to trigger Lightning Storm. A final capstone costs a point after its row is unlocked. At level 70 there are 69 talent points, and each capstone row allows one choice.

Match gear and runes to the route

Intelligence is the main damage attribute. Match the damage type on your equipment and weapon gem to the skill doing the work. Include health, the resistance needed for the current enemy and mana recovery; pure elemental damage is not useful during long empty-mana pauses.

Frozen Barrage adds damage against slowed targets at two pieces, makes Ice Shards apply Chilled at four, and adds projectiles at six. Stormcaller adds lightning damage at two, splash to Lightning Storm at four, and lightning-ball effects at six. Set drops start on Inferno, and the sixth rune slot opens at 65. Ordinary Ice Shards/Ice Meteor or Lightning Storm runes are a usable interim choice.

Compare the complete loop

For packs, compare hits reaching several enemies and the time between casts. For a boss, compare sustained casts, healing use and remaining health. Do not rank fire, frost and lightning from one screenshot or different characters’ gear.

Patch 1.0.0h raised Ice Nova’s base damage and fixed self-buffs during Ice Block. Check the patch version when reading older advice about that interaction. The current Ice Shards data lists nine base mana gain, rather than the fifteen shown in an older video.
